tats bro

I have decided to pursue the topic of tattoo art in San Francisco, and why it means so much to people. I will be going to a shop in the city called Idle Hand, getting some ink along the way hopefully, and having a good time.

Project Topics…

I came up with three potential topics for this blog and the project that comes along with it.

1. Tattoo culture in San Francisco

2. Mobile phone photography (a new era!)

3. The life of an independent musician or artist in the Bay Area

All three of these topics interest me deeply, as they are all hobbies/interests of mine. The tattoo culture particularly interests me because I would love to learn more about it, and I’m sure there are countless stories that can be told through that topic. The mobile phone photography is a rather new fad that has hit social media, but it might be harder to find solid research on it. Independent artists are all over San Francisco, and could possibly yield a great story, but not too much backstory unless I focus on an artist or two. I’m eager to hear what others think of my ideas and if they can offer any insights that could help me choose a topic.

Lab 1 // Who Am I?

Hello! My name is Sam Fischer and I am a Sound Arts student at Ex’pression College, hailing from Marin County. I was drawn to Ex’pression because of my love for all the arts and I wanted to pursue that close to home, which for me is the Bay Area. I love music (playing and listening!), nature, drawing, tattoos, any art that stirs the soul, and anything that requires my hands and my senses. My biggest influences really just include my peers and any artist that I can respect and appreciate his/her work. In 10 years from now, I really just want to be creating art and doing things I love while surrounded with people that I love and that inspire me.

Mainly, I play bass and drums in a couple bands, I draw, I make random art, and I am always looking for a cool new tattoo to get.
