“Today after the ending of the convening as everyone was walking down the street CPD arrested a 14 yr old. While everyone was demanding his release an officer pepper sprayed the crowd and further escalated the situation. In unity and solidarity everyone was demanding that he be released, and we stayed and protested until they released him!”

Music is such a vital instrument to this movement. Especially when it comes to the Black Lives matter Movement. People are finding unity and solitude within the company of each other and music. Kendrick Lamar’s song has inspired people with his lyrics and music video.
“When you know, we been hurt, been down before, nigga
When my pride was low, lookin’ at the world like, “where do we go, nigga?”
And we hate Popo, wanna kill us dead in the street for sure, nigga
I’m at the preacher’s door
My knees gettin’ weak and my gun might blow but we gon’ be alright”
Statistics can be located anywhere but we all can agree that lately there have been a load of wrongful deaths by officers this year alone. African Americans are disproportionately killed and targeted by police and history is repeating itself. Slavery may be over but the Prison Industrial Complex is only getting started.
I feel the photo above gives a visual of the impact we have as individuals.
