Introduction to Voiceover with Doug Boyd

Sunday, February 17, 2013 10:00am-1:00pm
Megasonic Sound, Oakland, CA
Limit: Ten attendees
$80 for one class

Students will participate in script analysis, dialogues, mic and vocal technique and improv in a fun, supportive environment. Have you ever been curious about this business, and how you might fit into it? Together we’ll find Your Voice. For those who have always been curious about pursuing voice work, this is the place to start. Perfect for actors or singers interested in expanding their options. Ample opportunity for Q/A, as well as recorded reads, we will explore commercial, narration, character and promo styles and industry expectations. The class is kept small, so that everyone has several chances at the microphone, so don’t delay!

(Great for animators who would like to get a little insight on how voice acting can influence animation and vice versa. Check out this article from In Focus about the Pixar Players: http://www.natoonline.org/infocus/03May/pixaruncut.htm.)

To sign up for this class, please contact Doug Boyd at (510) 685-7633, or boydcage48@sbcglobal.net.

East Bay Professional Filmmaker’s
Meet-Up #12:
Camera Moves with Lynton Vandersteen
Wednesday, May 25th @ 7pm – 9pm
in the East End at
Ex’pression College for Digital Arts

Featured Event: Camera Moves with Lynton Vandersteen

Lynton is a veteran camera and jib operator, he is going to bring his 21ft camera jib, a 12ft. jib, and a micro jib on dolly. We will get to see samples of his work — from the Academy Awards to National Geographic — Lynton will demonstrate different tools and techniques w/ a Q&A session afterward and a chance to get up close and personal with the gear.

More about Lynton: Lynton Vandersteen has been working as a freelance Director of Photography, Camera Operator and Jib Operator in the television and film business for twenty years. He specializes in single camera remote field productions. He shoots broadcast TV programs (including reality shows), documentaries, special features, short films and commercials. He also specializes in camera crane operation. As a Director of Photography Lynton strives to work closely with the Director and Producers to create the overall look and feel of a project. He prides himself on his ability to blend within any environment and capture compelling footage that clarifies and intensifies the subject. He understands how “the medium is the message” but seeks to have as little impact as possible in documentary/reality situations. Lynton is passionate about being part of diverse creative environments and understands and embraces the collaborative process of filmmaking.

I look forward to seeing you all next Wednesday,
Carl D. Brown
