American electronic rock duo, Phantogram has described their sound as “street beat, psych pop” and their music has a lot of rhythm, swirling guitars, spacey keyboards, echoes, and airy vocals. Their single, “Fall in Love,” can be heard on radio stations and music charts all over the US. Hailing from New York City, Phantogram is performing to a sold out crowd at Oakland’s Fox Theater and performing an intimate session here in Meyer Hall before their show.

Daniel McCoy began his career with Pixar Animation Studios in March 1989. He worked as a part of the RenderMan® software group for eight years and contributed his talents to a number of commercials produced by Pixar. McCoy has been part of the shading team on a number of Pixar’s award-winning feature and short films including Geri’s GameA Bug’s Life, Toy Story 2, Monsters, Inc.Finding Nemo, Up and Toy Story 3 and most recently, McCoy was the supervising technical director for the Academy Award®-nominated short film La Luna which was released theatrically in 2012 in front of the Disney•Pixar feature Brave. McCoy is currently a supervising technical director for Pixar’s stereoscopic team, working on several upcoming Pixar projects. Prior to coming to Pixar, McCoy worked with the NASA/Ames Research Center and at Sun Microsystems as a part of their computer graphics group. A native of San Jose, California, McCoy attended San Jose State University. He currently lives in the San Francisco Bay Area.

British singer/songwriter, Michael Kiwanuka is currently on tour in the US promoting his album, Home Again. The rootsy, folk-influenced, soul performer has a voice which can only be described as “hitting straight to the core” with direct, emotional songs about love, yearning, comfort, and belonging.

Taking a break from his tight schedule touring with Mumford and Sons, Michael will joining us for an intimate performance in Meyer Hall.

Ex’pression College is excited to welcome Whitney Myer for a full band show in our own Meyer Hall. Hailing from Reno, you may have seen her on NBC’s The Voice (2012). Whitney’s soulful vocals, intricate rhythms, and stacked harmonies mesh beautifully with the layered and looped electronic and live instruments of her band.

Having just released her final album with “The Whitney Myer Band” titled The End of the Beginning, Whitney is now embarking on a new chapter of her career with the April 2013 release of her solo EP, Articles of Luminous Nature where she is returning to her neo-electronic soul and R&B roots and performing in a more emotionally driven and personal way.
