BART Strike starting midnight Friday, October 18. No BART service for Friday morning commute.

October 17, 2013 in Announcements by vicki

Ok, it’s for real this time.

BART workers will be going on strike as of midnight Friday, October 18. That means no BART trains will be running for the Friday morning commute.

The AC Transit strike has been temporarily adverted.

We suggest:
  • Visit alert.511.org for updated strike information and tips on commute alternatives.  511 provides resources for alternative travel modes, including transit trip planning, telecommuting, ferries, Transbay buses, bicycling, and help finding a carpool or vanpool.
  • A strike will affect traffic for anyone on the road, not just those who use BART. Please expect delays at all Bay Area bridges and allow yourself extra time to reach your destination.
  • Contact your instructor if you think you will be delayed due to the strike and make arrangements with fellow classmates for rideshare or to get caught up if you can’t make it in.
  • Check out the Student Alliance Facebook event BARTNADO Commuter Board for potential rideshare opportunities!
  • Do your best to plan ahead. BART could be running but may have limited service with delays.  You may have to take alternate trains with alternate schedules.
  • Check out 511 RideMatch Service, an online program that matches commuters with similar routes and schedules to find carpool partners or a vanpool grou
Good luck!
