Attendance Policy Change Notification – We heard You

Dear Students,

We wanted to let you know about a change to our attendance policy that will take effect at the beginning of this term (July 22nd). We are moving the school towards an electronic attendance tracking system and in doing so have decided to move away from taking attendance in 5 minute increments. From now on our instructors will mark you as either present or not present. We recognize the correlations between attendance and student retention and achievement and any class session missed, regardless of the cause, reduces the opportunity for learning and may adversely affect your achievement, so we highly recommend that you continue to attend all classes for the entire duration of the course. Attendance Policy

Because developing and maintaining a good attendance record is an important facet of a student’s professional development, the attendance record is included in each student’s permanent file. A student is expected to attend all classes as scheduled, on time, and to remain in the classes for the full duration.

Students not in attendance for 14 consecutive calendar days will be dismissed from the college for unsatisfactory attendance.

Attendance Recording

All student attendance is recorded from the first day of the term. There are no excused absences. Instructors will take attendance during the class and students will be marked as either present or not present.

If you feel your attendance was inaccurately recorded you must contact your instructor who will review the situation and, if necessary, will make a request to the Office of the Registrar to update your attendance record.
